ABOUT ME

Welcome   to Mind-Body Wellness where I combine my 35 years of clinical experience with hypnotherapy and my 10 years of experience with acupuncture to provide you with what I believe to be two of the most powerful forms of alternative medical intervention available for successfully treating your mental, physical and behavioral health care needs. The emphasis within my practice is on prevention; to be able to diagnose the underlying causes of my patients' symptoms and successfully treat them long before they are able to progress to a disease state.

We are currently experiencing within the United States the emergence of an exciting new era in medicine where acupuncture and hypnotherapy techniques are rapidly being integrated into mainstream medicine as major hospitals and medical centers across the country establish complete departments devoted exclusively to integrative, complimentary and alternative medicine. For example, both modalities are now being used to help cancer patients alleviate the side effects of nausea, vomiting and pain associated with chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

Acupuncture has been an integral part of the health care systems of every major industrialized nation of the world for the past half century. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the National Institute of Health (NIH) have compiled a long list of conditions for which it has proven to be effective. Within the United States, one of the applications that has already gained widespread acceptance by traditional medicine is acupuncture's ability to successfully treat pain. I predict that, as more clinical trials corroborate its benefits for many other conditions, acupuncture is destined to assume a far greater role in the new health care system that is evolving.

The role of hypnotherapy is rapidly expanding as well. Dr. Charles Gerson, M.D., a gastroenterologist affiliated with the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, is currently taking advantage of recent research findings that have demonstrated that hypnotherapy can be more effective for treating stress and emotional issues than any other form of conventional medical intervention, including medication. He is currently applying these findings to successfully treat the symptoms of IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) as well as other gastrointestinal disorders.

Similarly, at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital in Florida, Dr. E. Anne Ouellette, M.D., a renowned hand surgeon, is currently using hypnosis as the only form of anesthesia for patients during many of her surgeries. Her experience with it supports recent research findings that hypnotically-induced anesthesia can successfully eliminate up to 60% of post-operative risk factors as well as all the toxic side effects associated with conventional, chemical anesthetics. As a strong advocate of hypnosis, she is urging her colleagues to follow her lead.

Another recent study has also revealed that between 70 and 90% of all office visits to physicians today are directly due to stress-related symptoms and conditions and, based upon my 35 years of experience working with thousands of patients, I know of no other form of therapeutic intervention that can come even remotely close to the benefits of regression hypnotherapy for successfully treating both acute and chronic forms of stress.

By combining my many years of clinical experience with hypnotherapy and formal training in mind-body medicine with my experience with both Chinese and Japanese styles of acupuncture, I believe that I am uniquely qualified to be able to provide you with a broad range of mind-body therapeutic interventions that can be tailored to address your specific health care needs.

I encourage you to surf the pertinent information I have provided under the various topics on this website with the hope that I may become of assistance in helping you to successfully achieve your own health goals in this exciting new era of mind-body medicine.

Professional Training and Experience

Over the years, I have felt privileged to have had the opportunity to work with many wonderful people from all walks of life and to have successfully treated a wide variety of symptoms, conditions, behavioral disorders and diseases. My patients have included professors and scientists from major New England institutions and universities, students, physicians, psychiatrists and other mental health professionals, entertainers, celebrities, professional and Olympic athletes, authors, politicians and even an astronaut. I have accepted commissions across the United States and Europe to treat patients suffering from life threatening illnesses such as cancer, severe bulimia and intractable pain and I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to witness many miraculous healings (unfortunately, it is illegal to use the word "cures").

Within my acupuncture practice, I have developed an eclectic approach that allows me to draw on the knowledge and experience I have accumulated from the many styles of acupuncture I have learned in order to tailor my treatments to meet the specific needs of each patient.
